Sandy Young to Exhibit at the Sausalito Art Festival
Sandy Young will be exhibiting her mixed media art at the 60th Annual Sausalito Art Festival over Labor Day weekend, September 1-3, 2012.
“I have exhibited at the Sausalito Art Festival in the past, but this is the first time I will be exhibiting my mixed media pieces”, states Young. “It will be fun to bring this work to the show.”
The Sausalito Art Festival is one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious events of its kind in the country. 270 artists throughout the United States exhibit and sell works ranging from painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramic, glass, fiber arts and fashion, wood, photography, mixed media, and more. Top-flight musical entertainment on three stages, food, beer, wine and more all add up to America’s not-to-be-missed art festival.
The 60th annual Sausalito Art Festival will be held in Marinship Park adjacent to the Ferry landing in Sausalito, CA. Sandy Young will be in booth #401, in the area of the Tennis Courts, near the front gate of the festival.
The festival runs Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, September 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets and information are available online at www.sausalitoartfestival.org

The Arts Guild of Sonoma (AGS) is excited to present the artwork of featured artist Sandy Young as well as new work by Guild member artists for the month of August, 2012. As featured artist, Sandy Young will be showing new mixed media work from August 1st through 27th in the Gallery of the Arts Guild of Sonoma. Sandy’s mixed media work combines kiln-formed glass with mixed media painting and photography. An Artists Reception will be held on Friday, August 3rd, from 6:00-8:00pm. All are invited to the reception and show. The Arts Guild of Sonoma Gallery is located at 140 East Napa St. in Sonoma. Sandy Young Receives Two Awards at “California Fine Art”
Sandy Young was awarded two awards at California Fine Art, the exhibition of the California State Fair, on July 21, 2012.The jurors selected Sandy’s mixed media art “Ice Cream Store” to receive an Award of Merit. The jurors also also selected this artwork for a Special Award –Sacramento Fine Arts Center Award– which is a cash award given to an outstanding work of art. The awards presentation was held on Saturday, July 21st. California Fine Art is on exhibit from July 12 to July 29 at the California Exposition and State Fair in Sacramento, CA. www.bigfun.org
June Invitational in Sonoma

Sandy Young will be showing a new digital image/mixed media piece at the Arts Guild of Sonoma’s Annual June Invitational Show. The piece is titled “At the Fair #1″ and is mounted on a 30″ x 40″ Birch panel. Sandy’s work will be shown alongside the work of fellow Guild members as well as a group of invited artists.
Invited artists on exhibit include Mia Lobel, Lisa Ellis, Riko Takata, Elizabeth Dekker, Barbara Muhlhauser, Janis Kobe, Mike Robinson, Sunshine Moeschler, John Ager, Monika Gabriel, Linda Semple, Linda Shelp, Mik Kitigawa, Sonja Balkyar and Barbara White Perry.
The June Invitational runs from May 30th through July 2nd at the Arts Guild of Sonoma. An Artists Reception, open to the public, will be held on Friday, June 1st, from 6:00-8:00pm.

Art Accepted into the California State Fair
Sandy Young will be exhibiting her mixed media art “Ice Cream Store” in the California Fine Art exhibit at the California State Fair. “Ice Cream Store” is one of only six pieces accepted into the mixed media art category. With over 1300 entries, and limitations on the number accepted in each category, the jury selection process was very competitive. “I am honored to have my artwork accepted into the show.”, states Young.
California Fine Art runs from July 12th to 29th during the California State Fair. Fair hours are Mon-Thurs., 11am-10pm, and Fri.-Sat. 10am-10pm. More information at www.bigfun.org.
REPO Show: Art from Recycled Materials

The Arts Guild of Sonoma’s green-themed fundraiser “The Repo Show” is a silent auction of art made from recycled material by local artists. Sandy Young’s contribution to the show is a piece titled “Grandma’s Pantry”. The piece measures 27″ x 16″ and incorporates parts from a vintage folding chair, glass bottles that have been melted in a kiln, an antique key, and vintage imagery.
“It was really fun creating this piece. It gave me an opportunity to experiment and work outside of my current direction”, states Young.
The Repo Show Opening Reception is Friday, march 2nd, from 7-9pm. Silent acution continues through March 24th, ending with a closing party from 6-9 pm on the 24th.
